Advanced language study offers students not only the ability to develop fluency and keen understanding but great insight into other cultures and other ways of life. The Kew-Forest School offers Latin (beginning in seventh grade) and Spanish (beginning in Kindergarten). Students develop vocabulary and grammar to help them attain the highest level of speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. In addition, analysis and evaluation of various cultures and civilizations are inherent to the study of language.
Students practice language skills needed for oral and written communication at an advanced level. Students hone listening, speaking, reading and writing skills while further developing their socio-cultural competence. Students develop and evaluate arguments as they express opinions, exploring controversial topics in sociology, psychology, economics, ecology, and politics, and as they develop their presentational, interpersonal and interpretive language skills.
