Mental Health Education Workshops for Middle School Students

Organizer: J. Garfinkel

As part of Kew-Forest's ongoing commitment to the holistic development of our students, we are excited to announce this presentation on mental health education in partnership with the National Alliance on Mental Illness - NYC (NAMI).

During this Ending the Silence presentation, students will learn the warning signs of mental health conditions, discover strategies to improve mental health, and discuss the importance of open communication about mental health concerns. In addition to the educational component, students will hear a young adult’s journey of recovery and resilience in the face of mental health challenges.

All Middle School students will attend the 45 minute workshop:

  • 6th graders will attend during Study Skills.
  • 7th graders will attend during Writing Workshop.
  • 8th graders will attend during Art or Music.
Ms. Garfinkel, Middle & Upper School Counselor, will be present to ensure students have the necessary support and resources and to answer questions or concerns that may arise.

We look forward to an enriching workshop intended to provide insight, reduce stigma, and promote open conversations about mental health and believe the experience will contribute to a more informed and compassionate school community. Please email questions/concerns to jgarfinkel@kewforest.org.
