Jagwear (spiritwear) is a collection of apparel inspired by our school colors, red (maroon) and blue (navy), and mascot (jaguar) to promote school pride.
What counts as Jagwear?
Official Jagwear apparel, the Physical Education (PE) uniform, Field Day t-shirts and/or any other official school related apparel that has been sold in the past to promote school spirit.
If I am a new student, faculty or staff member, or have outgrown my Jagwear, what can I wear?
It is NOT a requirement to wear Jagwear on Jagwear Fridays.
Students: If you do not own Jagwear, students should wear their PE uniform or academic uniform. Students can also opt to wear solid-colored red and blue clothes with no patterns or logos.
Faculty and staff: Faculty and staff without Jagwear should dress as they normally do. They are encouraged (but not required) to wear a mix of our school colors, red (maroon) and blue (navy).

A Kew-Forest hallmark that makes us unique among NYC independent schools is the extent of the diversity in our community. Every member and family at Kew-Forest is important, and the school seeks to actively support, affirm, and celebrate the broad range of identities that are represented amongst us. As was the case last year, we are excited to announce that (pending sufficient interest) representatives from The Kew-Forest School have the opportunity to march in the Queens Pride Parade on Sunday, June 2 this year, and YOU ARE INVITED to march with our school delegation!
There is an established precedent for independent schools and other educational institutions in NYC participating in their local or borough Pride celebrations, and we look forward to continuing in such ranks with our participation this year. This is a wonderful opportunity for Kew-Forest community members to celebrate and show support for the LGBTQIA+ members of our own community and the broader community beyond K-F’s walls.
Important information:
The Queens Pride Parade will take place in Jackson Heights.
Families, students, staff, alumni, and friends who are interested in marching with The Kew-Forest School Queens Pride Parade delegation must fill out and submit the Kew-Forest Queens Pride Parade Sign-up Form no later 12:00 pm TODAY.
Our school must provide our registration information to the parade organizers at that time.
Please be prepared to provide the names and t-shirt sizes of participants when filling out the sign-up form.
Logistical information, contact details, and meet-up instructions will be sent out to individuals who sign up in advance of the parade date. The Queens Pride Parade starts at 12:00 pm Sun 2 June, but The Kew-Forest School delegation will be assigned an earlier arrival time that will be shared with attendees in late May.
If you have any questions regarding participation, please contact Lyla Eaton, DEI Support Staff, via email at leaton@kewforest.org.
We look forward to seeing our community members there.
