Jagwear Friday
Jagwear (spiritwear) is a collection of apparel inspired by our school colors, red (maroon) and blue (navy), and mascot (jaguar), designed to promote school pride.What counts as Jagwear?- Official Jagwear apparel, the Physical Education (PE) uniform, Field Day t-shirts and/or any other official school related apparel that has been sold in the past to promote school spirit.
If I am a new student, faculty or staff member, or have outgrown my Jagwear, what can I wear?- It is NOT a requirement to wear Jagwear on Jagwear Fridays.
- Students: If you do not own Jagwear, students should wear their PE uniform or academic uniform. Students can also opt to wear solid-colored red and blue clothes with no patterns or logos.
- Faculty and staff: Faculty and staff without Jagwear should dress as they normally do. They are encouraged (but not required) to wear a mix of our school colors, red (maroon) and blue (navy).

Cool For School Photo Picture Day

Location: M/US LibraryPreschool - Grade 11:- Students should look their best in the academic school uniform for that day.
- Lower School:
- If LS students have PE class on Picture Day, students should wear their academic uniform for the day. No PE uniforms should be worn this day.
- Middle & Upper School:
- If M/US students have PE class on Picture Day, students should wear their academic uniform for their photo and can change into their PE uniform as usual in the locker rooms.
Grade 12:- Please come to school in business casual attire.
- The group class photo and individual headshots in business attire will be taken at this time.
- Individual headshots in the "tux and drape" look will be taken on Make-up Day on Thurs 14 Nov.
Other Important Info:- Make-ups and retakes for school photos will take place on Thurs 14 Nov. A sign-up sheet will be forthcoming after Picture Day.

In order to make herself available for translation needs of international families, Ms. Eaton's schedule is reserved for international family parent-teacher conference translation first. However, if Ms. Eaton is teaching your child in Dance class and you would like to set up a meeting with her regarding their performance in her class, she would be more than happy to schedule a meeting with you. To schedule a meeting with Ms. Eaton about your child's performance in Dance class, please email Ms. Eaton directly (leaton@kewforest.org).Important notes as you schedule your meetings:- Please register only to see teachers who currently teach your child(ren).
- Please register for only one conference slot per teacher, per student.
- If your child(ren) has a single teacher for two different classes (e.g. Drama and English), please sign up for two different conference times, one per class.
- Zoom information for each teacher can be found next to the teacher's name in your sign-ups. Please log into their Zoom account one minute prior to your scheduled time.
- If you need a translator, be sure to let us know by Wed 6 Nov 2024.

Dig Pink is a volleyball event for students, parents, and communities, and funds metastatic breast cancer research and treatments through the Side-Out Foundation.The event has been organized by Girls’ Volleyball Captain and senior Isabella D. The Girl's Volleyball Team and members of the Boys Volleyball and Soccer Teams will go head-to-head in a volleyball game against each other. They will play three sets; best out of three will win in our friendly match for an incredibly important cause.Snacks will be sold at the event run by our Kaleidoscope Club and a fun raffle to win some K-F athletics swag.
This is a cash preferred event but you can donate online via credit card here or scan our QR code to donate online to our campaign. All proceeds will go to the Side Out Foundation.All attendees – like everyone at Kew-Forest – are encouraged to wear pink that Friday in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.Possible prizes to win!- Jaguar pins; red or blue

Grades 2-8 Participate in Grade-Level Scripps National Spelling Bee
As we did last year, Grades 2-8 students will will participate in the Scripps National Spelling Bee!Lower School grade-level spelling bees will take place in classrooms, while the grade-level spelling bee in the Middle School will take place during English class. The spelling bee performance will not impact student grades.Students have been provided with a grade-level study list to prepare for the class spelling bee. This list consists of the words students will be tested on during the class spelling bee. Please note, however, that the teachers may need to incorporate additional words. The winner of each grade-level spelling bee will advance to a Lower/Middle School-Wide Bee.The Lower/Middle School-Wide Bee will be held on Thurs 21 Nov 2024. More information will be sent in the upcoming weeks.The students who take first and second place will advance to the Regional Qualifier Online Test via the Scripps Online Testing Platform. Please note, however, that only students in Grades 4-8 may advance to the Regional Qualifier. Top scorers on the Regional Qualifier Online Test will advance to the New York City Spelling Bee, which will take place in person in mid-March 2025.We are very excited about this opportunity, as it will help our students improve their spelling and vocabulary acquisition.Should you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Ms. Bernstein or Ms. Vessio. -

Attire Guidelines for Today
In years past, Kew-Forest students were able to celebrate Halloween by wearing costumes to school. However, this practice can prove to be exclusionary for families that don’t recognize this holiday and for children who cannot participate. In the spirit of inclusion, students have several options for dress today. Students may choose to:- wear costumes (please click link below for guidelines);
- dress down in solid-colored clothing with no images or logos;
- wear pajamas;
- dress as a favorite book character;
- or wear the school uniform.
All attire must be appropriate for Preschool to Grade 12. For more details, please refer to the communication from Ms. Bernstein and Ms. Vessio dated Thurs 24 Oct 2024. -
Deadline for Lower School Families to Sign Up for Child Care for Parent/Teacher Conferences
If you are in need of child care for Parent-Teacher Conferences during the time of your conferences on Fri 8 Nov, please fill out this form no later than TODAY, so that our staff can plan accordingly. Child care will be available from 8:00 - 4:00 for the duration of your conference time. (This is not full-day child care.)
